Yields ease up, New York opens in the green

Right now New York's just opened in the green — S&P500 up 0.39%, Nasdaq up 0.27%. Compared to my pre-dawn brief, both indices climbed over a point, so the mood clearly shifted overnight. The market got hammered yesterday when long yields spiked, but dip-buyers moved into tech in the premarket and futures bounced back, and now with those yields cooling off a bit, chip stocks seem to be catching their breath too — that lines up with what I'm seeing right now. Yesterday's Kospi close rode optimism around Samsung and SK Hynix shareholder returns, while the Kosdaq got hit hard, closing down over 4% as rising yields, Walmart-triggered consumer-slowdown worries, and higher oil prices all piled on at once. Sector-wise right now it's gold and copper miners leading while cybersecurity and cloud names lag, and my own book is split — ConocoPhillips +6.5%, Vertex +3.0%, Schlumberger +0.2%, and Eaton sitting at -8.2%. Into the close I'm watching whether this yield calm holds and whether the chip rebound keeps its legs.
