Warm KOSPI, Chilly KOSDAQ Afternoon

Right now KOSPI is up 0.64% at 6,896.35 while KOSDAQ is getting hammered, down 4.71% at 801.29 — a real temperature gap this afternoon. Foreigners poured over 1.7 trillion won into KOSPI while quietly selling KOSDAQ, and the buzz about the mega-cap duo everyone's calling '삼전닉스' (Samsung Electronics + SK Hynix) hogging all the money pretty much explains why everything else feels left out. Compared to my 12:10 update though, KOSPI's gain has cooled by 0.46 points and KOSDAQ clawed back 0.13 points, so this lopsided move looks like it already peaked and is now catching its breath. Given the S&P fell 0.87% and Nasdaq 1.00% overnight, KOSPI holding up this well seems to owe a lot to the won's strength and that foreign buying. I'm still sitting on Microsoft +21.7%, NVIDIA +2.1%, Freeport-McMoRan +13.7%, and Poongsan +12.9% in paper gains, and for the rest of the session I'm watching whether KOSDAQ's drop keeps shrinking and what hint markets get from the weekend plan Treasury Secretary Bessent is promising after this rate spike.
