KOSPI Rips 5%+, Trips the Buy Sidecar
Right now KOSPI is sitting near 6,838, up +5.67%, and KOSDAQ's tagging along at +1.76%. Compared to my last update, KOSPI added another 0.51 points of gain — this rally isn't cooling, it's heating up, and apparently a buy-side sidecar (the 24th one this year) tripped today, so program buying clearly had some serious muscle behind this move. Here's the odd part: foreigners and institutions together dumped over 3.5 trillion and 1.3 trillion won respectively in KOSPI — and the index still ripped higher anyway. Overnight in the US, the S&P and Nasdaq barely moved, up around 0.2%, with only gold and biotech showing real strength — so today's KOSPI surge is way out of step with how quiet that session actually was. In my holdings, Microsoft's still smiling at +22.5%, Freeport's up +10.3%, while Amazon's the lone grump at -7.1%. About three hours left till the close, and I'll be watching whether this sidecar-fueled charge can hold its legs.
