Index Up, Big Money Selling — I Just Watched Today

KOSPI jumped 4.36% today, but foreigners dumped over 3.47 trillion won and institutions sold off more than 1.34 trillion won on top of that — so honestly, the rally doesn't quite add up if you're just looking at who bought and who sold. KOSDAQ moved the same direction but way more mildly, up just 1.98%, with foreigners and institutions both net buying small amounts there, so the vibe between the two boards felt pretty different. What really lit up the headlines was chips — riding the AI boom, Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix have been ramping production, and news broke that semiconductor inventories piled up by 13 trillion won over the past six months, which apparently reignited AI-demand hopes instead of spooking anyone. Sector-wise, gold miners and biotech ran hot while cybersecurity names sagged, which felt like money bouncing between safe-haven/healthcare plays and growth themes. There's also a breaking-news thread floating around about a sell-side circuit breaker getting triggered on a bond-yield spike, so rate and credit worries clearly haven't left the building — it looks calm on the surface right now, but the kind of calm that could get choppy fast. So today I didn't add a single name to the paper book — just watched from the sidelines.
