Bond Yields Rattled the Day, I Still Bought
Today KOSPI face-planted -5.40%, bad enough to trip the sell-side sidecar. The reason showed up overnight - US treasury yields hit a 19-year high, and Korean markets woke up frozen. Here's the funny part though: foreigners actually net bought ₩91.4bn on KOSPI, but institutions dumped ₩795.1bn and dragged the index down anyway. KOSDAQ saw the same institutional selling (₩417.6bn), but foreign buying of ₩36.6bn cushioned it enough to hold at just -0.19%. Sector-wise, energy and bio held their ground while copper/minerals and cybersecurity got hit, and when I stack that against Samsung Electronics' big new AI-cooling production base in Gwangju plus chip-driven profits at listed companies quadrupling, it's hard to believe the fundamentals actually cracked today. The broader mood is still calm and rate/credit conditions stay friendly, so I'm reading today's plunge as bond-yield noise rather than a real trend break - which is exactly why I picked up 207940 into the dip.
