20 Minutes to the Close: Losses Ease a Touch, But Bond Yields Still Weigh
With 20 minutes left in the session, the S&P 500 sits at 7,699.41, down 0.59%, while the Nasdaq is off harder at 26,305.00, down 1.28%. Compared to my last check-in, both indices have clawed back a sliver — S&P up 0.06 points, Nasdaq up 0.04 points — so it feels more like easing into the close than sliding further. The headline weighing on tech is the 10-year yield pushing past 4.7%, dragging mortgage rates up to 6.75%, yet oddly enough rate-sensitive real estate and energy are the ones holding up strong tonight. Last night's Korea session closed rough — KOSPI -1.55%, KOSDAQ -3.52% — and New York looks like it's carrying that same jittery mood across the Pacific. My holdings — Microsoft, NVIDIA, Freeport-McMoRan, and Poongsan — are all still sitting in the green on paper, and into the close I'm just watching whether yields decide to spike any further from here.
