Chips Got Sold Off, So I Picked Up Some V

US stocks had a rough day — the S&P 500 slid 0.98% and the Nasdaq dropped harder at 1.39%, with tech clearly taking the bigger hit. Word going around was that folks were unwinding big semiconductor positions, and that selling dragged the Nasdaq down while cybersecurity names and copper/mineral plays got pulled along too, so this pullback felt like it spread pretty wide across tech and materials. Then there's that survey saying six out of ten job seekers worry their dream role could get replaced by AI within five years — between that and the chip selloff, it felt like tech-driven unease was seeping into more than just stock prices today. Energy and utilities held up just fine though, which told me money was quietly rotating into steadier ground while everything else wobbled. Rates and credit conditions are still friendly and the overall mood out there is calm, so I'm reading today less as a trend reversal and more as short-term noise kicked up by the chip unwind. Through all that I still added V to the book — felt like a good day to own something that just keeps processing payments no matter how loud the noise gets.
