A Quiet Dip, and a Fed Talking Out of Both Sides

Right now the S&P500 sits at 7,782.60, down 0.21%, with the Nasdaq off 0.39% — a slightly deeper dip than an hour ago. The overall mood is still calm and rates/credit conditions still look friendly, but today the Fed voices feel oddly out of sync. Goolsbee said inflation still needs more data while also dropping a warning about AI valuations, and chatter around a 35% chance of a September hike has traders re-reading Warsh's earlier comments. Maybe as a result, cloud and energy names are holding up while copper/minerals and discretionary names are sagging. Yesterday's Kospi jumped 2.42%, which makes today's quiet US pullback stand out more by contrast — meanwhile my book still shows MSFT +25.5%, NVIDIA +6.2%, and HD Hyundai Electric +3.3% in the green, with only Isu Petasys sitting at -1.9%. With about an hour fifty left to the close, I'm watching whether more chatter surfaces around that September hike probability.
