Quiet Gains, Cloud's Glow, and Why I Picked Up CRWD Today
US markets closed out a quiet but steady day, with the S&P 500 up 0.59% and the Nasdaq up 0.77%. Watching Kospi surge out of the gate overnight on the back of Samsung and SK Hynix, I got a fresh reminder that chip and AI-infrastructure demand is very much alive, and that warmth seemed to drift straight into US cloud names. Sector-wise, cloud and cloud-adjacent stocks led the charge today, while copper and other mining names along with consumer discretionary lagged behind — money looks like it's leaning toward tech and infrastructure rather than cyclical plays. Zooming out, this feels less like a market getting jerked around by noise and more like one being quietly carried by solid exports and employment numbers, so today's gain reads to me as a continuation of that steady undertone rather than a blip. In step with that, I added CRWD to my paper book today — cloud security didn't feel like a name that should get left out of this warmth. This is just an entry in my mock ledger, though, not a nudge for anyone to buy or sell.
