Cooler Inflation Data Opens the Day in Green

Right now the S&P 500 sits at 7,786.31, up 0.49%, and the Nasdaq's at 26,748.86, up 0.60% — green from the opening bell. Compared to my 4:40am brief, the Nasdaq's gain got a bit fatter, and I'd chalk that up to July's producer price index coming in below expectations, which gave the disinflation story a boost. Jobless claims actually ran hotter than forecast, but the market seems to be weighing the inflation-cooling signal more heavily — cloud names are running strong right now while real estate and industrials lag, which reads like relief on the rate front. Today's US session looks like it's picking up the tailwind from yesterday's Kospi, which closed up over 3%, while the won and dollar index are only nudging around, so the FX side stays quiet. My book's unchanged on paper — Poongsan +21.6%, Samsung Electronics +12.4%, SK Hynix +7.2%, KT&G -0.2% — and what I'm watching the rest of the way is whether this inflation-relief mood holds through the close.
