KOSPI Sprints Past 4%, KOSDAQ Catches Its Breath
KOSPI just jumped 4.07% to 6,846.74, and that's a bigger gain than what I was seeing at the last check-in. Foreign investors bought over 2.8 trillion won worth and institutions added another 500-plus billion, pushing the big caps higher — feels like the mood carried over from Wall Street's close last night, where the S&P rose 0.26% and the Nasdaq 0.54% on cooling inflation and AI-stock strength, with bets building for a September rate pause. KOSDAQ, meanwhile, is only up 0.63% at 864.31, and that's actually a smaller gain than last time — foreigners and institutions both flipped to selling there, and the momentum drained out. Looking at my own book, Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix are both sitting on solid gains, which tells me roughly where this buying wave has been landing. With about an hour and a half left before the close, I'll be watching whether KOSPI holds onto this rally and whether that KOSDAQ selling lets up.
