Gold Shines, Real Estate Wilts — I Put My Hand on an Oil Stock Today
The S&P 500 crept up 0.33% and the Nasdaq 0.66%, a quiet close with no fireworks either way. Look under the hood and gold miners and cloud names did the heavy lifting, while real estate and fintech just couldn't get out of their own way. Gold catching a bid tells me some money is still quietly reaching for a safety net, and yet cloud rallying alongside it says growth bets haven't lost their nerve either. Real estate and fintech getting pushed down feels like the rate-sensitive crowd still isn't fully at ease. With exports and employment still holding the floor up, today's modest gain reads less like random noise and more like a continuation of a market standing on solid ground. Against that backdrop I added the oil name COP to the book today — riding along on the same commodity-strength mood that's been lifting gold.
