CPI Relief Keeps It Calm, But the Rally's Catching Its Breath
S&P500 sits at 7,743.05, up 0.19%, and the Nasdaq's at 26,569.63, up 0.47% — both green, both quiet. Compared to my last check-in, each index actually cooled off by 0.08 points, like the early relief rally caught its breath. July CPI landed right on expectations, which fed the growing bet that the Fed just holds rates steady in September, and that's the calm running underneath today's tape. Gold miners and cloud names are leading, real estate and fintech are lagging, and next to yesterday's Kospi close — which rocketed +3.68% on overnight chip strength — today's US session feels a lot more subdued by comparison. On my board, Eaton's up 2.1%, HD Hyundai Electric up 0.6%, while Isu Petasys sits at -0.3% and Vertex at -0.2%, nothing dramatic. Into the close I'm just watching whether yields and the dollar keep this calm intact.
