Kospi Fades Off Its Morning Rally, Kosdaq Flips the Script
Right now the Kospi's sitting at 6,345.53, up 0.73%, and the Kosdaq's at 857.84, up 0.39%. We opened hot — Samsung and SK Hynix led a surge that had the Kospi touching the 6,430 line, up over 1.3% at the open — but that fire's cooled since, giving back nearly half the gain and landing 0.24 points lower than where the last brief had it; the Kosdaq did the opposite, opening down 0.35% before flipping positive, and since foreigners are actually selling harder there, that bounce looks like it's coming from someone other than foreign hands. Wall Street fell for a second straight session overnight on Strait of Hormuz jitters, with worries it could complicate the Fed's rate-cut math, so Kospi's strong open today actually runs against that grain. The won slipped to the 1,417 range, and my holdings are holding their shape — Microsoft, Nvidia, and Freeport still in the green, Amazon still the lone red mark. Between now and the close I'm watching whether this morning's rally finds its legs again.
