Soft Jobs Data Cools Rate Bets — Gold Shines, Indices Slip
Right now the S&P 500 sits around 7,741, down 0.15%, and the Nasdaq is off 0.40% — both pulling back harder than they were at my last check-in. A softer-than-expected jobs report knocked back bets on a September rate hike, which sent gold miners popping while real estate and clean energy slid the other way. Unlike yesterday, when the Kospi and Kosdaq both closed higher, US stocks aren't carrying that warmth into today's session. My book's still holding up fine — Microsoft +26.9%, Nvidia +5.6%, with Eaton +2.3% and Vertex -0.3% just sitting quiet. With more than three hours left before the close, I'm watching how Treasuries react once the next inflation numbers land — that's what decides where the rest of the session goes.
