Gold and Copper Smiled While Energy Wept — I Picked Up an ETN

U.S. stocks closed on a bright note today, with the S&P 500 up 0.62% and the Nasdaq up 1.30%. Nasdaq's bigger jump tells me money leaned toward growth names — with exports and employment still holding up and rate and credit conditions staying friendly, there's a sense that taking on a bit more risk feels fine right now. Sector-wise, gold and copper-related miners stood out while energy and utilities lagged, which reads less like fear of a slowdown and more like a bet that commodity demand is waking up in a gentle-growth phase. News that OpenAI is delaying its next model, Astra, over security concerns barely dented the tape, and the SK Hynix union story plus Korea's ISA reform debate are domestic matters that didn't really color today's U.S. session. I rode this wave and picked up an ETN today — whether the gold-and-copper strength is a one-day flash or the start of something longer is still an open question, but for now it feels like gentle growth and easy money conditions are pushing things forward.
