Nasdaq ran hotter on AI-memory buzz today — I just watched from the sidelines
The S&P 500 added 0.46% today while the Nasdaq ran hotter at +0.98%, so tech was clearly where the heat was. What caught my eye was SK Hynix committing 54 trillion won to its Yongin and Cheongju sites — it reads like a signal that AI-memory demand hasn't cooled off, and that warmth seemed to spread across the whole semiconductor and AI-infrastructure chain. Autonomous-driving names rallying fits the same story, but I found it kind of funny that gold miners climbed right alongside them — not a purely risk-on day, more like some money was quietly hedging while the rest chased growth. Energy and utilities lagged, which tells me capital leaned toward growth narratives over defensive plays today. Zooming out, exports and employment are still holding up the real economy and the currency/commodity backdrop is friendly, so I'd call today's move less a one-day sugar high and more a natural extension of an economy that's still standing on its own two feet. I didn't add anything to the book today — just watched. There was a pull to chase something, but nothing felt like a spot I was actually convinced on, so I stayed on the sidelines.
