Foreign Selling, and Both Indices Catch Their Breath

Today the KOSPI slipped 0.30% and the KOSDAQ 0.32%, both taking a breather. On the KOSPI, foreigners dumped over 3.29 trillion won and institutions piled on with another 121.4 billion in net selling, and that combination is what pinned the index down; on the KOSDAQ, foreign selling of 248.1 billion won was partly absorbed by institutions stepping in with 161.5 billion in net buying, which cushioned the drop. Wall Street's overnight stumble on news that Iran might selectively block US- and Israel-linked vessels from the Strait of Hormuz seems to have bled into local sentiment, and the political noise around leverage accountability — with a key figure gone quiet on Facebook for eleven days now — didn't help nerves either. Sector-wise, gold miners rode the bullion rally and cloud names held up on AI-infrastructure demand, while utilities and energy couldn't shake their weakness; Musk calling memory chips the real AI bottleneck and warning phone prices will keep climbing only underscores where the market's attention is drifting. Exports and employment are still underpinning the real economy, and currency and commodity conditions remain favorable, so I'd read today's dip as short-term noise rather than a break in the bigger trend. Against that backdrop I added 042660 to my paper portfolio today — just my own mock-trading log, nothing more, nothing less.
