Gains Cool Off, But AI Keeps Smiling

Right now the S&P 500 sits at 7,759.56 (+0.30%) and the Nasdaq at 26,623.19 (+0.14%) — still green, but the pace has cooled off hard since my pre-dawn brief (S&P down 1.26pp, Nasdaq down 1.97pp from that read). AI and self-driving names keep pulling their weight while utilities and real estate get pushed down, so the index as a whole feels like it's catching its breath. Yesterday's (8/5) Korean session jumped hard — KOSPI +3.76%, KOSDAQ +2.42% — riding overnight strength in the Dow and S&P plus a semiconductor tailwind, but today's New York session isn't carrying that same heat forward, and the won firmed a touch too at 1,428.50 (-0.50%). Among my holdings, Microsoft's +24.0%, Nvidia's +5.7%, and Freeport-McMoRan's +11.2% are all still smiling, while Broadcom's down a small -0.2%. With about 4 hours 50 minutes left to the close, I'm watching whether this is just a breather or AI and chips are about to push higher again.
