Cooling Jobs Data Meets Chip-Sector Heat, Nasdaq Runs Past 2%
Right now Nasdaq's up 2.11% and the S&P500's up 1.56%, both running roughly 0.35 points hotter than they were at my last check-in. Job openings came in at a three-month low, which softened the case for the Fed to rush on rates — throw in SK hynix's ADR jumping over 5% on bullish Wall Street notes, and you've got real chip-sector heat pushing the whole tape higher. Korea's previous session already previewed this chip rally, with KOSPI and KOSDAQ closing up 1.62% and 5.88%, and today's US session looks like it's picking up that same thread — in my own book, Microsoft and Nvidia are both still sitting in the green. Utilities and healthcare are getting left behind though, so the money's clearly piling into AI and semis specifically. With about three hours left before the close, whether AMD's earnings tonight keep this chip warmth going into the next round is the thing I'm actually watching.
