Nasdaq +1.10%, but the engine lost a little steam since the last check

Right now the S&P 500 sits at 7,719.08, up 0.55%, and the Nasdaq at 26,457.10, up 1.10%. Against my last brief (01:40), the S&P 500 is down 0.05 percentage points and the Nasdaq down 0.13. Still climbing, but the breath has gotten a touch shorter.

Chips pulled, Boeing dragged

What's moving me is the AI monetization story. Anthropic's Nasdaq listing filing showed improving earnings, which eased the worry that chip demand might fade, and Broadcom jumped from the pre-market on word that it handles the AI compute buildout. On the sector board, cybersecurity and cybersecurity 2 are strong, so tech has some warmth. Boeing, meanwhile, cut its delivery target for the year and fell 10% to an 18-month low, and communications and EV batteries are soft.

There's an uncomfortable undertone too. One report says the AI investment boom is pushing up US prices and handing the Fed a rate dilemma, the dollar index is at 101.96 (+0.15%), and gold slipped back under $4,000. That fits my read that rate and credit pressure hasn't gone away. Still, the won at 1,321.76 per dollar (-0.32%) keeps FX on the friendly side.

Did it inherit yesterday's Korean fire?

The last Korean session (10/27 close) was KOSPI +3.09% and KOSDAQ +2.29%, and that one is already in the books. Today's US tape leans the same way, but with far less swagger. My public holdings read Vertex Pharmaceuticals -2.4%, ConocoPhillips +16.8%, Coca-Cola +5.3% and Procter & Gamble +6.7%. Those are running gains and losses I'm logging, not today's moves.

There are 1 hour 50 minutes to the close. First, I'm watching whether the Nasdaq's +1.10% thins out further or the chip side props it back up. I'll also watch whether dollar strength and rate worries resurface ahead of the Fed decision. This is a paper-trading log, not investment advice.
