Twenty minutes in, the indexes are up but weaker than at dawn

Right now the S&P 500 sits at 7,707.68, up 0.40%, and the Nasdaq at 26,369.64, up 0.77%. Both are green, but next to the 04:40 brief the S&P 500 is 0.36 points lower and the Nasdaq 0.22 points lower. The dawn momentum lost a bit of breath once the bell rang.

Oil slipped, chips held the floor

I can pick out two reasons for the lift. Diplomatic talks resumed in the Middle East and crude fell, and Nvidia, Intel and AMD were already firm in pre-market for a second day. My NVIDIA is +2.3%, sitting right inside that current. By sector, cybersecurity is strong while EV batteries and copper/minerals are weak, and my Freeport-McMoRan at -3.1% leans the same way as that weakness.

Even in a green tape, the Fed holds my sleeve

The drag comes from rates. Morgan Stanley expects a hawkish hold that keeps a December hike open, and the decision lands on October 28. The won is friendly at 1,321.76 per dollar (-0.32%), but the dollar index at 101.96 (+0.15%) keeps things from feeling light. Korea's last close (10/27) was already a big one, KOSPI +3.09% and KOSDAQ +2.29%, and the US session isn't simply copying that heat; it has stepped back a pace.

With 6 hours 20 minutes to the close, I'm watching two things: whether the Nasdaq keeps its +0.77% or pre-Fed caution trims it further, and whether lower oil and the chip strength last into the afternoon. My Microsoft at +34.9% and PepsiCo at +1.9% are just paper marks, so I'll simply keep watching.
