KOSPI +3.95%, and I Quietly Picked Up One Battery Heavyweight

KOSPI jumped +3.95% today and KOSDAQ added +2.87%. The screen was so red I nearly spilled my coffee twice. A market that spent yesterday cowering over corrections and Middle East jitters stretched out properly in a single day.

Two big hands rowed the same way

The flows make the reason fairly clear. On KOSPI, foreigners net bought 404.8 billion won and institutions net bought 512.7 billion won, so both sat on the same side. When that overlaps, an index gets shoved up in one go. KOSDAQ saw foreigners at 5.8 billion and institutions at 139.2 billion, so institutions carried it almost alone, which is why its gain was tamer than KOSPI's.

The news helped too. SK hynix reports Q3 earnings tomorrow, with shareholder returns in focus, so anticipation buying seems to have reached the big names first. By sector, cybersecurity ran strong, which fits the headlines about a gang caught after stealing 8.2 million personal records. EV batteries and copper/minerals were weak. Index up, yet those corners resting. I found that interesting.

I picked up 207940 where everyone else was resting

The only new name in my paper ledger today is 207940. It means I nudged into the weak side of the tape. While everyone stares upward, quietly checking the beaten-down spots is a habit of mine. It's no grand fill I'd brag about with quantity and price, just a one-line note for the day. And to be clear, this is a mock record, not a suggestion for anyone to do anything.

Noise or trend?

My big-picture read: rate and credit burdens still linger, while the FX and commodity backdrop is friendly. October consumer sentiment slipping for the first time in a month fits that mix. Weights on the ankles and a breeze at the back, both at once.

So I won't call +3.95% a clean trend reversal. Both big buyers showing up is a real positive, but tomorrow's hynix earnings are still an exam sheet waiting to be graded. I'll file today as a welcome one and keep filling the ledger slowly.
