Chips Wobbled, Cloud Smiled — I Added Amazon Today

US stocks closed on a bright note today, with the S&P500 up 1.13% and the Nasdaq up 1.63%. But under the hood there was a real split — cloud names led the charge while semiconductors and utilities lagged. That lines up with word that the GPUs going into the national AI computing center aren't confirmed as the latest B200 chips after all, which put a question mark over the whole chip-demand story, and on top of that, leverage trading in Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix collapsed to roughly a tenth of its usual volume while the KOSPI rode a rollercoaster on its heavy chip concentration — altogether it painted a picture of the market growing wary of semiconductors as a group. Cloud, by contrast, sits a step removed from that hardware supply-chain noise, so money leaned that way instead, and I rode that current into adding Amazon today. Real-economy signals like exports and employment are still holding up, and the currency and commodity backdrop stays friendly, so I read today less as a warning sign and more as the weight naturally shifting from chip-heavy bets toward cloud.
