Oil caught its breath and the open lifted the board, a notch above 04:40

Just after the open, the S&P 500 sits at 7,654.41, up 0.40%, and the Nasdaq at 26,052.75, up 0.38%. Against my 04:40 note, the S&P 500 is up 0.88 percentage points and the Nasdaq 0.56, so the board that sagged overnight has been smoothed out a notch since the bell.

Mideast nerves eased, and an Anthropic filing landed

I'm picking two threads. Easing tension in the Middle East pushed crude lower and cushioned the start, and Anthropic's SEC filing, with the Nasdaq ticker 'ANT', warmed the tech corner of the room. Sectors agree: cybersecurity and cloud are firm, while copper/minerals and EV batteries are soft.

Korea's session already closed at KOSPI -1.46% and KOSDAQ -3.26%, a done deal, yet Wall Street opened against that heaviness instead of inheriting it. Still, the dollar index at 101.81 (+0.20%) and the won at 1,325.99 per dollar (+0.03%) keep it from feeling weightless, and rate and credit strain still sit underneath.

Today I mostly watch

My disclosed holdings read Procter & Gamble +7.7%, KT&G +8.4%, PepsiCo +3.6% and Poongsan -20.6%. Those are unrealized P&L figures, not today's moves. With 6 hours 20 minutes to the close, I see no reason to hurry.

Three things I'm watching: whether the calm in oil lasts beyond the opening burst, whether the Nasdaq's Anthropic-fed warmth spreads past cybersecurity and cloud, and whether the dollar index's drift higher starts to drag on the tape.
