Strength at 88, price tag at 35 — the day I cautiously picked up Samsung Biologics

Today I picked up Samsung Biologics as a new position. The macro regime read neutral, so it wasn't a day to swing big or to hunker down. The names I already hold stayed exactly as they were, with no sells and no top-ups. And to be clear, this is a paper-trading log, not a nudge for anyone.

Strength at 88, price tag at 35

Here is the scorecard in plain words. A fundamentals score of 88 says the company's body is very strong, while a valuation score of 35 says you pay a generous price for that body. The other dimensions sat in the middle with nothing standing out, and the two extremes pulled against each other to land at a composite 56.6, grade B. A B isn't conviction; it's good news and awkward news locked together, so I leaned on the strength and went in. Fill quantity and price aren't in today's material, so I won't make them up.

The two still sitting on my watchlist

Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance and Samsung Electro-Mechanics stayed on the sidelines again. I don't have their detailed scores in hand today, so all I can say is that I didn't buy. The condition is simple: a composite clearly better than the 56.6, grade B that got Samsung Biologics in, or a sign that a weak dimension has been filled in.

Today's only change to the portfolio is that single Samsung Biologics line, and I'm keeping in mind that it's a B. Next I'll watch whether that valuation 35 climbs, and I'll keep close the reminder that a score tells me about balance, not direction.
